Film and Television Production Incentives (FTPI)
The film and television production incentives of the Dtic are open to filmmakers owning companies registered and operating in South Africa. The incentives offer up to R50 million to qualifying companies for carrying out approved production activities in South Africa.
The grant does not cover the cost of marketing and distribution of productions, among other exclusions.

Funds Available:
- Up to R50 million on a cost sharing basis
- 20% – 35% of qualifying costs
Qualifying Projects:
- South African productions
- Foreign productions, filmed in South Africa
- Production formats: Feature film, Tele-movie, TV drama series and mini-series, Documentaries, Animation
Requirements:
- B-BBEE Level 1-4
- Proof of market – confirmation of distribution agreement
- Confirmation of “matched” funding – required for the portion not funded by the grant
- The Dtic must be credited for its contribution
